Biogem – innovation and sustainability

At Biogem, we combine over 10 years of experience with innovation to promote green transition. Through biogas and circular economy, we help companies reduce their CO₂ footprint and create a sustainable future – on the planet's terms.

Who are we?

At Biogem, the goal is to spread knowledge and inspiration for green transition. And we believe that with transparency, sustainability, and quality, we can elevate our customers' and partners' ambitions to contribute to a sustainable future.

We have over 10 years of experience serving the European market with biogas, including our own production. By utilizing biomaterials from industry and agriculture, we enhance food suppliers' ability to operate in a much more climate-friendly manner; in recognition of the scarce resources – and on the planet's terms.

Biogem has offices in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden. We are a partner that not only provides the best product quality on the market but also offers top-of-the-line professional technical and regulatory advice to promote measurable sustainability in your ESG reporting through BioLens.

Our own engineering and development department helps ensure nomination connections for origin guarantees (NomNom) using infallible measuring tools for consumption and CO₂ emissions.

Therefore!

Biogas production is circular economy in its purest form. Organic waste is used for heating and transport, and the byproduct is used as fertilizer in the fields, which helps to add new nutrients to the soil that assist new crops in growing - some of which are used as animal feed.

In this way, the circle is closed, which is an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil products and a geopolitical supplement to wind and solar energy, which is not dependent on whether the wind blows or the sun shines.

Vision

We will utilize the natural carbon cycle to capture past climate emissions.

Mission

We optimize the value chain to contribute to the building of the Climate Change Response industry.

Values

We are a trustworthy and competent partner, using our extensive knowledge and experience to create sustainable results - on the planet's terms.

At Biogem, we strive to create sustainable solutions that promote green transition and circular economy. With transparency and innovation, we help our customers reduce their CO₂ footprint.

Environmentally Friendly Gas

Danish and Scandinavian biogas is an environmentally friendly energy source that contributes to a necessary reduction in dependence on fossil fuels. Biogas is also a very flexible energy source that can be used for, e.g., production and transport fuel (biomethane).

Biogas production reduces greenhouse gas emissions by converting organic waste into energy. If this waste is not converted into energy, it will decompose naturally, releasing methane, an 18-25 times stronger greenhouse gas than CO2. Since the waste comes from agriculture, industry, and households, it represents a renewable energy source and a strong contribution to the circular economy.

The production of biogas also contributes to increasing energy security and reducing dependence on imported fuels, as we create the raw materials ourselves that are part of the process. In addition to generating energy from waste that would otherwise go to waste, the by-product is valuable as it can be used as biogas fertilizer in agriculture.

It closes the loop, improves soil quality, and has the additional advantage over regular livestock manure (slurry) that it does not smell – and thus is not a nuisance to the neighbors and passersby of the field.

Thus, biogas production not only contributes to CO2 reduction by replacing fossil fuels, it also provides greater independence and energy security – and it supports our sustainability goals by contributing to the circular economy.

Future Projects and Innovation

Biogas is not only relevant for today's climate-friendly energy supply, but it will also be able to contribute further to sustainable energy in the future – through further reduction of CO2 emissions.

In today's production, the same CO2 is released that the waste (e.g., in the form of plants) once absorbed. This makes the production CO2-neutral. However, there is also a goal to make future biogas CO2-negative through the introduction of new technologies and methods.

Some of these initiatives are:

Storage of CO2 from production in underground reservoirs

Replacement of synthetic fertilizer products whose production emits CO2

Integration with renewable energy sources, where excess electricity is used to convert biogas into synthetic fuels
